Arsenal has officially signed England forward Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, marking a significant addition to their squad. The deal, valued at £60 million with an additional £8 million in potential add-ons, makes Eze the Gunners' seventh signing of the summer transfer window.

Eze Chooses Arsenal Over Spurs

The 27-year-old forward had been a key target for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with the North London club having reached agreements with both Crystal Palace and Eze himself. However, Arsenal made a decisive move on Wednesday, and the lifelong Arsenal supporter opted to return to the club where he began his youth career.

Upon his introduction to the Arsenal crowd before the match against Leeds, Eze received an enthusiastic welcome, dressed in an Arsenal shirt and jeans. Arsenal's sporting director, Andrea Berta, praised Eze as a "creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality." Manager Mikel Arteta echoed this sentiment, highlighting Eze's potential to enhance the team's attacking play and commending his hard work and ambition throughout his career.

Eze's Impressive Track Record

Raised in Greenwich, south-east London, Eze began his senior career with QPR before transferring to Crystal Palace for £19.5 million in 2020. He has made a notable impact at Palace, scoring 40 goals in 169 appearances and contributing 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season, including the decisive goal in the FA Cup final. Eze earned his first England cap in June 2023 and extended his contract with Palace until 2027 just five months later.

Although Eze started the Eagles' Premier League opener against Chelsea last week, he was absent from Thursday's Europa Conference play-off match. With Arsenal assessing a knee injury to forward Kai Havertz, the club seized the opportunity to secure Eze's signature, successfully hijacking the deal from their rivals.
