Draw Extends Mariners Unbeaten Run to Eight - Central Coast Mariners
The Central Coast Mariners secured a draw in their latest match, marking their eighth consecutive game without a loss. This impressive streak highlights the team's strong performance this season.

In a tightly contested match at polytec Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Central Coast Mariners extended their unbeaten run to eight games after a 1-1 draw against Adelaide United. Both teams aimed to strengthen their positions as they push for finals football.
First Half Action
Adelaide United, currently sitting in fourth place, started the match with a strong offensive presence, creating several early opportunities on the right side. However, the Mariners' high press caused issues for the visitors, particularly in the 13th minute when Ali Auglah was fouled just outside the penalty area. Although Auglah took the free kick, it was comfortably saved by Adelaide's goalkeeper Joshua Smits.
Throughout the first half, Adelaide maintained control of possession, keeping the Mariners largely confined to their own half. Mariners' captain and goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne was crucial, making several key saves to ensure the score remained level at halftime.
Second Half Turnaround
The second half began with Adelaide continuing to apply pressure, but the Mariners' defense held firm. In the 56th minute, Mariners' Head Coach Warren Moon made tactical substitutions, bringing on Sabit Ngor and Nathanael Blair for Kaito Taniguchi and Oli Lavale. Just two minutes later, Ngor capitalized on a mistake by the Adelaide goalkeeper, scoring into an empty net for his sixth A-League goal, and notably his third against Adelaide.
With newfound momentum, the Mariners pressed forward, and Auglah nearly added to their tally with a shot that narrowly missed the post. However, Adelaide responded with a quadruple substitution in the 67th minute, injecting energy into their attack as they sought an equalizer.
Late Drama
As both teams exchanged chances, the pace of Ngor and Blair continued to trouble the Adelaide defense. The visitors finally found their breakthrough in the 87th minute when a well-executed passing move culminated in Ethan Alagich finding the net, steering the ball just inside the far right post.
Despite late substitutions from both sides, neither team could secure a winning goal, resulting in a draw. The outcome keeps the Mariners in sixth place on the A-League ladder, with their unbeaten streak now standing at four wins and four draws. Looking ahead, the Mariners will travel to Melbourne to face Victory at AAMI Park next Saturday.
