Diego Moreira Is Officially a Rossonero: The Number 22 Shirt and His First Words as a Milan Player - Casa Milan
Diego Moreira is now a player for AC Milan, proudly wearing the number 22 shirt. He expressed his excitement and commitment in his first statements as a Rossonero.

Diego Moreira has officially joined AC Milan, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031. The young Portuguese winger is the latest addition to the Rossoneri, arriving from Strasbourg for a transfer fee of approximately 50 million euros, plus bonuses. This marks Milan's fourth signing of the summer transfer window, with agent Jorge Mendes playing a significant role in facilitating the deal.
Moreira's Arrival at Casa Milan
The signing process took place at Casa Milan, where Moreira was accompanied by friends, family, and intermediaries. During the day, he had a chance encounter with teammate Strahinja Pavlović, marking the beginning of their journey together in the red and black colors of Milan.
Embracing the Number 22 Shirt
In a symbolic move, Moreira chose to wear the number 22 shirt, previously donned by AC Milan legend Kaká, a 2007 Ballon d’Or winner. This number carries significant historical weight, and Moreira's decision reflects his readiness to embrace the high expectations that come with it.
Moreira's First Impressions
After finalizing his contract, Moreira expressed his excitement about joining Milan, stating, “I’m excited and a little in disbelief, because when you talk about Milan, you’re talking about history, trophies and great champions. It’s a huge club — you know what’s expected of you — and I believe this is the right moment for me to be here.” He also shared insights into his character, saying, “I’m someone who likes to joke around but is also very focused. On the pitch, I give everything for my teammates.”
Moreira, born in 2004, has shown great potential as a dynamic forward, having developed through the academies of Benfica and Barcelona before making a mark at Strasbourg. Under Rúben Amorim’s tactical approach, he is expected to be a vital player, capable of playing as a wide attacker or advanced midfielder in a 3-4-2-1 formation. With Moreira's addition, AC Milan continues to strengthen its squad for the upcoming 2025–2026 season, joining fellow summer signings Gonçalo Ramos, Mario Gila, and Diavara.
