Defender first major new signing for Macarthur FC

Macarthur FC has made a significant move by signing a defender, highlighting their commitment to strengthening the squad for the upcoming season.

Macarthur FC has made a significant move in the transfer market by securing centre-back Nathan Paull as their first major signing for the upcoming 2026/27 A-League season. This announcement comes on the heels of the club's decision to release several players, marking a new chapter as they focus on contract extensions and new acquisitions.

Nathan Paull Joins the Bulls

The 22-year-old Paull joins Macarthur FC from Central Coast Mariners FC, where he made a total of 66 appearances in all competitions. His contributions were pivotal during the Mariners’ remarkable 2023/24 season, where they achieved a historic treble. In addition to his club success, Paull has represented Australia at the international level and is a key member of the current Australian U23s squad. Known for his defensive strength and composure on the ball, Paull is expected to enhance the Bulls' backline under the guidance of coach Mile Sterjovski.

Promotions and Re-signings

In addition to Paull's signing, Macarthur FC has promoted Harry Menham to the A-League men’s squad on a scholarship contract. Menham's promotion follows a series of impressive performances with the Bulls FC Academy men’s team during the 2025 season and the ongoing 2026 Football NSW League 1 men’s campaign. His addition will bolster the defensive options alongside Harry Politidis and Callum Talbot.

Macarthur FC has also secured the re-signing of several key players, including rising star Luke Vickery, who has extended his stay until the 2027/28 A-League season after a breakout year. Midfielder Liam Rose has also committed to the club until the end of the 2027/28 season, having made over 52 appearances since his return ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Brazilian forward Bernardo has re-signed until the end of the 2028/29 A-League season, contributing seven goals and two assists since joining the club. Additionally, young goalkeeper Alex Robinson has received a three-year contract extension, keeping him at the Bulls until the end of the 2028/29 season.

As the club moves forward, they bid farewell to goalkeeper Filip Kurto, who has been released after four seasons. Kurto leaves as the most capped player in the club's history, with 145 appearances. Reflecting on his time at Macarthur FC, he expressed gratitude for the experiences he had, stating, “I’ve enjoyed my time here, on the pitch, even travelling to Asia. Everything stays in my heart, in my mind, for the rest of my life.”
