Coventry City has officially signed 19-year-old forward Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce on a long-term contract. The young striker joins the English club after a successful loan spell in Turkey, where he showcased his talent and gained valuable experience in European competitions.

Career Progression

Cherif initially began his senior career with Angers SCO in France, making his professional debut in the 2023-24 season. He played a key role in helping Angers earn promotion to Ligue 1 in 2024 and continued to develop his skills in the French top division. His breakthrough season came during the first half of the 2025-26 campaign, where he netted four goals in Ligue 1 by December, catching the attention of clubs across Europe.

Experience at Fenerbahce

In February 2026, Cherif joined Fenerbahce on loan, which included an obligation to buy. During his time in Turkey, he scored three goals in the latter part of the season and participated in both the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, further enhancing his competitive experience.

Born in Guinea, Cherif has also represented France at the youth level, receiving call-ups to the Under-16 and Under-21 squads. Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Cherif stated, “I’m very happy to be a Coventry City player and I’m excited to be playing in the Premier League.” His arrival is expected to bolster Coventry's attacking options as they prepare for the challenges ahead in the Premier League.
