The England international Morgan Rogers has officially transferred from Aston Villa to Chelsea, marking a new British transfer record. While the exact fee has not been disclosed, reports indicate that it is valued at 117 million pounds ($156.5 million), surpassing the previous record set by Elliot Anderson's 116 million pounds ($155 million) move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City earlier this month.

Record-Breaking Transfer

This transfer makes Rogers the third major signing for Chelsea under new manager Xabi Alonso, following wing backs Marco Palestra and Geovany Quenda. The 23-year-old forward, who has established himself as one of the Premier League's leading attacking talents, has signed a contract with Chelsea that will keep him at the club until 2033.

Excitement for the Future

Rogers expressed his enthusiasm for joining Chelsea, stating on the club's website, “I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid. Rogers initially joined Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2024 for a reported fee of 8 million pounds (approximately $10.5 million) and has since earned 22 caps for the national team.

With Chelsea finishing 10th in the Premier League last season, they will look to improve as they begin their league campaign away to Fulham on August 24.
