In a strategic move, the Washington Capitals have traded for Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues, aiming to enhance their offensive lineup.

The Washington Capitals have announced the acquisition of forward Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues. In exchange, the Capitals will send forwards Connor McMichael and Milton Gastrin, along with their first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2026 NHL Draft, to St. Louis. This transaction was confirmed by senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick on June 23, 2026.

Chris Patrick expressed enthusiasm about bringing Kyrou to Washington, highlighting his exceptional talent and offensive capabilities. “Jordan is an exceptionally talented and dynamic offensive player who will make an immediate impact on our club,” Patrick stated. He emphasized that Kyrou, at 28 years old and under contract for the next five seasons, is entering the prime of his career and is a perfect fit for the team both now and in the future.

In the announcement, Patrick also acknowledged Connor McMichael's contributions to the Capitals since being drafted in 2019. He thanked McMichael for his professionalism and class, wishing him success as he transitions to the Blues.
Kyrou's Career Highlights
Jordan Kyrou, who stands at 6'1" and weighs 189 pounds, is a three-time 30-goal scorer, achieving this milestone in three consecutive seasons from 2022-23 to 2024-25. He recorded a career-high 37 goals during the 2022-23 season and achieved a personal best of 75 points in the 2021-22 season. Over the last five seasons, he led the Blues in multiple categories, including goals (149) and power-play goals (35).
In the most recent season, Kyrou finished fifth on the Blues in goals (18) and points (46), despite having limited ice time. His performance has been particularly strong in seasons where he averaged more than 16 minutes of ice time, with averages of 32 goals and 71 points during those years. Since becoming a full-time NHL player in 2020-21, he has participated in 95.3 percent of St. Louis' regular-season games and has tallied 13 points in 28 playoff games.
Kyrou was drafted by the Blues in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft and has accumulated 378 points in 488 career games. Among his draft class, he ranks ninth in goals and tenth in points, showcasing his offensive prowess as a right winger.
