Cammy Devlin: Rangers sign midfielder after Hearts departure - BBC Sport
Cammy Devlin has joined Rangers after leaving Hearts, enhancing the team's midfield options. The move marks a significant addition for the club as they prepare for future challenges.

Cammy Devlin has officially joined Rangers on a free transfer following his departure from Hearts, expressing that it is "an absolute honour and privilege" to become part of the club. The 28-year-old Australian midfielder spent five years at Tynecastle, where he made 171 appearances and scored eight goals.
Devlin's Background and Experience
Devlin has earned five caps for the Australian national team and was included in their squad for the 2026 World Cup, although he did not see any playing time during the tournament. He has signed a two-year contract with Rangers, which includes an option for an additional year. His move marks the third significant signing from Hearts this summer, following striker Lawrence Shankland and the appointment of manager Derek McInnes.
Excitement for the Future
Reflecting on his transfer, Devlin noted the timing feels right with the changes happening at Rangers. "With the gaffer coming here and a lot of change happening at the club, it feels like a great time to be coming here," he stated. He acknowledged the stature of Rangers, saying, "To call myself a Rangers player now feels pretty special and I just cannot wait to get started."
Devlin's performance last season was impressive; he led the Premiership in tackles per 90 minutes and ranked highly among midfielders for interceptions, defensive contributions, and recoveries. While some Rangers supporters have raised concerns about his ball-handling skills, it is worth noting that only four midfielders in the league completed more accurate passes per 90 minutes than Devlin, one of whom was Rangers' own Nicolas Raskin. Manager McInnes expressed confidence in Devlin's ability to adapt to the club's style of play, stating, "He is someone who knows the Scottish league, and nothing will surprise him with what lies ahead."
As Devlin prepares to join his new teammates after a holiday, both he and the Rangers management are optimistic about the contributions he will make to the team in the upcoming season.
