IPSWICH, England — Ipswich Town has made a significant move in the transfer market by signing Brazilian forward Emersonn, marking him as the club's record transfer as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Ipswich, although the club has not disclosed the transfer fee paid to French side Toulouse, which is reported to be around $32 million.

Emersonn's Journey to Ipswich

This transfer represents a major acquisition for Ipswich's new head coach, Gary O'Neil. Previously, O'Neil experienced Emersonn's talent firsthand when his former team, Strasbourg, faced Toulouse in May, where Emersonn scored a decisive late goal. During his time at Toulouse, Emersonn netted six league goals after joining from Turkish club Goztepe in September.

Return to the Premier League

Emersonn's signing is particularly noteworthy as Ipswich prepares to kick off their Premier League season against Sunderland on August 22, followed by matches against Manchester United and Liverpool. The club recently ended a 22-year absence from the Premier League, having been promoted in 2024, only to be relegated back to the Championship.
