Brazil boss Ancelotti confident forward Neymar will recover for World Cup | The Straits Times

Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Brazil's national team, is optimistic about Neymar's recovery ahead of the World Cup. He believes the star forward will be fit to participate in the tournament.

Brazil's head coach Carlo Ancelotti has expressed optimism regarding Neymar's recovery from a calf injury, suggesting that the forward may be fit for the team's opening match in the upcoming World Cup. Neymar, who is the all-time leading scorer for Brazil with 79 goals in 128 appearances, was included in the squad despite not being part of Ancelotti's plans during his tenure.

Neymar's Injury Update

Following a report from Santos indicating that Neymar was dealing with a minor issue involving some swelling, he was subsequently ruled out of Brazil's warm-up matches against Panama and Egypt by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Ancelotti noted that the coaching staff had decided to call up Neymar, believing in his potential contribution to the team.

World Cup Aspirations

Ancelotti stated, "He's working well, and he's in good spirits ... We believe he can be ready for the first World Cup match. If he's not ready for the first match, he'll be ready for the second." He emphasized that there are no plans to replace Neymar in the squad, highlighting the team's confidence in his recovery.

As Brazil aims for a record-extending sixth World Cup title, they will compete in Group C against Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland during the tournament scheduled from June 11 to July 19 in North America.
