Borussia Dortmund sign Konstantinos Karetsas from Genk | Bundesliga
Borussia Dortmund has secured the signing of Konstantinos Karetsas from Genk, adding a young and talented player to their roster as they prepare for the new season.

Borussia Dortmund have officially secured the signing of Konstantinos Karetsas from Belgian club Genk. The promising 18-year-old Greece international has committed to a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031.
Impressive Performance in Belgium
Karetsas had a standout season with Genk, finishing as the second-best provider in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League with 11 assists. Additionally, he contributed to the team’s UEFA Europa League campaign, where he assisted five goals and scored two, helping Genk reach the round of 16 before being eliminated by Freiburg with a 5-2 aggregate score.
Excitement at Joining Dortmund
Dortmund's managing director of sports, Lars Ricken, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “With Kos, we’re adding a player to Borussia Dortmund who, at just 18 years old, already possesses tremendous talent.” Ricken highlighted Karetsas's eagerness to join the club and align with their vision.
Born in Genk, Karetsas developed through the youth ranks of his hometown club and also spent time at Anderlecht’s academy from 2020 to 2023. He made his professional debut at the age of 15 with Jong Genk and stepped onto the top-tier stage at 16 years and eight months in July 2024. Despite representing Belgium at youth levels up to U21, he chose to play for Greece, making his senior debut in March 2025 against Scotland, where he has since scored three goals in ten appearances.
Looking Ahead
Karetsas is set to join his new teammates as they prepare for upcoming pre-season friendlies against Arsenal and Roma. The young midfielder will then make his competitive debut in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup at home against Bayern Munich on August 22, marking the start of the 2026/27 season.
