Bernardo Silva: Real Madrid sign Manchester City midfielder on free transfer as Jose Mourinho impact continues | Football News | Sky Sports
Real Madrid has signed Bernardo Silva from Manchester City on a free transfer, highlighting the ongoing impact of Jose Mourinho in shaping the team's roster.

Real Madrid has officially signed Bernardo Silva, the former Manchester City midfielder, on a free transfer. The 31-year-old's contract with Manchester City expired at the conclusion of the last season, marking the end of his successful nine-year tenure at the club.
Details of the Transfer
Silva has committed to a two-year contract with Real Madrid, joining Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, who was recently signed following the appointment of head coach Jose Mourinho. During his time at Manchester City, Silva was instrumental in securing six Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy, contributing significantly with 76 goals in 460 appearances since joining from Monaco in 2017.
Despite interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Silva chose to move to Real Madrid. In his final season at City, he captained the team, participating in all 38 Premier League matches and helping the club secure both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Real Madrid's Summer Activity
Real Madrid has been active in the transfer market this summer, having already signed Marc Cucurella on a deal that could total £51.8 million, including add-ons. The club is also set to announce deals for free agents Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries. Cucurella, who previously played for Chelsea, made 163 appearances for the club and won the Conference League and Club World Cup during his time there.
As Silva prepares to join his new team, he is also set to represent Portugal in the World Cup, with their opening Group K match against DR Congo scheduled for Wednesday evening.
