Manchester City has officially signed midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for a reported fee of £85.6 million, making him the most expensive teenager in Premier League history. The 18-year-old Moroccan international has agreed to a five-year contract, pending international clearance, with the deal consisting of £81.4 million upfront and an additional £4.2 million in performance-related add-ons.

Impressive World Cup Performance

Bouaddi's signing follows the departures of central midfielders Rodri and Tijjani Reinders, who were sold to Barcelona and Al-Qadsiah for £65 million and £52 million, respectively. Bouaddi showcased his talent during the recent World Cup, starting five of Morocco's six matches as they advanced to the quarter-finals. He has also been a vital player for Lille in Ligue 1, making 96 appearances since his debut in 2023.

A Dream Move for Bouaddi

"This is a very special day for me and my family. Manchester City are, for me, the best club in the world. It's a dream to be here and be able to call myself a City player," Bouaddi stated.

As part of a midfield overhaul, Bouaddi will join England's Elliot Anderson, who was signed from Nottingham Forest for £116 million. Bouaddi is expected to play a deep-lying role, complementing Anderson's versatility in midfield. City is also reportedly preparing an offer for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez, who is valued at £120 million.

Bouaddi's arrival comes amid a busy transfer period for Manchester City, which has seen other key players like Savinho move to Tottenham for £75 million. The club is actively reshaping its squad as it aims for continued success in domestic and European competitions.
