DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club has announced the acquisition of forward Fabian Lysell from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forward Ivan Ivan. This trade was confirmed on June 27, 2026.

Lysell's Performance and Background

Fabian Lysell, 23, had a productive season with the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins during the 2025-26 campaign, where he tallied 42 points (17 goals and 25 assists) in 57 regular-season games. He also participated in one Calder Cup Playoff match. Lysell ranked sixth in scoring for Providence, a team that achieved the best record in the AHL, earning the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy. Additionally, he finished fifth in both goals and assists within the team.

Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Lysell turned professional before the 2022-23 season. Over his AHL career, he has accumulated 163 points (57 goals and 106 assists) in 219 regular-season games and has contributed three points (0 goals and 3 assists) in 12 Calder Cup playoff appearances, all with Providence. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward has also seen action in 12 NHL games with the Bruins during the 2024-25 season, where he recorded three points (1 goal and 2 assists).

Previous Experience and International Play

Before joining the AHL, Lysell played for the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League during the 2021-22 season, where he achieved 62 points (22 goals and 40 assists) in 53 regular-season games and added 21 points (4 goals and 17 assists) in 12 playoff games. His 17 assists led the WHL during that postseason. Prior to his time in North America, he played professionally for Lulea HF in the Swedish Hockey League, contributing three points (2 goals and 1 assist) in 26 games during the 2020-21 season. He also spent time with Frolunda’s junior team from 2019 to 2021.

On the international stage, Lysell has represented Sweden at two IIHF World Junior Championships (2022 and 2023) and at the 2021 under-18 World Championship, where he earned bronze medals in both the 2022 World Junior showcase and the 2021 under-18 tournament. He was originally drafted by the Bruins in the first round (21st overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.

In the trade, Ivan Ivan, who signed with Colorado as a free agent on March 5, 2024, departs after playing 49 games for the Avalanche, where he recorded nine points (5 goals and 4 assists), along with 169 games for the Eagles, where he scored 25 goals and provided 44 assists.
