Medical and Squad Position

Meslier is expected to undergo a medical examination before finalizing his move to the Emirates Stadium. He is anticipated to serve as the third-choice goalkeeper for Arsenal, positioned behind David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Last season, Tommy Setford held the No.3 role but is now likely to be loaned out to gain first-team experience, having made only a brief appearance as a substitute in an FA Cup match.

Meslier's Experience and Leeds Departure

During the 2025/26 season, Meslier did not make any first-team appearances for Leeds, falling behind Karl Darlow and Lucas Perri in the team's hierarchy. Leeds initially aimed to sell him last year but struggled to find a buyer. Despite his lack of recent game time, Meslier brings valuable Premier League experience to Arsenal, having made 107 top-flight appearances in total.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is actively looking to strengthen his squad after the club's recent championship success, with the new Premier League season set to begin against Coventry on August 21.
