In a collaborative report by Arseblog News and BBC Sport, it has been revealed that Chelsea is currently leading the race to secure the signing of Katie McCabe. The Ireland captain is set to leave Arsenal when her contract concludes on June 30, with significant interest also coming from Manchester City and the NWSL.

Interest from Multiple Clubs

Manchester City had been keen on adding McCabe to their squad and are in the process of signing Beth Mead. However, the pursuit of McCabe was not as advanced as that for Mead. Chelsea's position has strengthened, placing them in the best position to finalize the deal.

Previous Attempts and Contract Situation

Chelsea previously attempted to sign McCabe in January 2023, but Arsenal rejected their offer. Additionally, Lyon showed interest in the player during the summer of 2024, which Arsenal also turned down. Despite an earlier decision not to extend McCabe's contract, Arsenal reconsidered after her impressive performances at center-half in Champions League matches against Chelsea and Lyon this season. This late change in stance prevented the announcement of her departure during the final home game of the season.
