Anthony Gordon: Barcelona unveil England forward after £69m-plus move from Newcastle - BBC Sport
Anthony Gordon has been unveiled by Barcelona following his £69 million transfer from Newcastle. The England forward is set to bolster the team's attacking options.

Anthony Gordon has officially joined Barcelona from Newcastle United in a transfer valued at over £69 million, marking a significant move for the England forward. The 25-year-old expressed his long-held dream of playing for the Spanish giants, a desire he has harbored since he was just three years old.
Excitement and Anticipation
Gordon, who signed a contract with Barcelona that runs until 2031, underwent a medical examination with the club on Thursday. Following some delays related to paperwork, he was finally presented at the Spotify Nou Camp on Friday. "I was excited to play for Barca since I was three years of age," he stated, emphasizing his childhood aspiration. He even took the opportunity to speak in Spanish during his unveiling, reflecting his commitment to the club and its culture.
Despite learning about Barcelona's interest later than expected, Gordon was quick to make his decision. "As soon as I knew Barca were a serious option, there wasn't any question," he said. He acknowledged the club's stature, calling them "the biggest club on the planet" and expressing his eagerness to contribute to their legacy.
Gratitude to Newcastle
Before his move, Gordon spent three and a half years at Newcastle, where he made 152 appearances and was the club's top scorer this season with 17 goals across all competitions. Reflecting on his time at Newcastle, he remarked, "I owe this club a lot because, when I arrived, I was quite lost both in life and in football." He credited the club for providing him with a sense of belonging and identity, which has helped him reach new heights in his career.
Gordon is set to join the England squad for a training camp in the United States ahead of the World Cup, which begins on June 11. His move to Barcelona not only marks a new chapter in his career but also positions him alongside compatriot Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan from Manchester United.
