Anthony Gordon: Barcelona in talks to sign Newcastle forward - BBC Sport
Barcelona is reportedly in talks to sign forward Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. The move could enhance Barcelona's attacking lineup as they seek new talent.

Barcelona has entered the competition to acquire Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon, joining Bayern Munich in the pursuit of the England international. The La Liga champions are currently in discussions with Newcastle regarding a potential transfer.
Financial Considerations and Club Stance
Despite facing financial challenges in recent years, Barcelona is believed to have the capacity to invest based on revenue generated from player sales. Bayern Munich has also engaged in formal talks with Newcastle, although previous reports indicated a discrepancy in the valuation of Gordon between the two clubs. Newcastle's chief executive, David Hopkinson, has emphasized that the club will only entertain player sales on "our terms."
Gordon's Position and Future Prospects
Newcastle is well-positioned to demand a minimum fee of £70 million for Gordon, whose contract runs until 2030. Following a disappointing 12th-place finish in the Premier League, the club is looking to make strategic trades this summer. Gordon, who was Newcastle's top scorer this season with 17 goals across all competitions, is considered the most likely key player to leave. He was notably benched for the final four matches of the season as head coach Eddie Howe focused on future plans.
During the last match against Fulham, fans briefly chanted Gordon's name, suggesting a possible farewell. When asked if Gordon had played his final game for Newcastle, Howe stated, "I don't know, as I said in the build-up to the game. You can never predict what's going to happen. He obviously goes to the World Cup now so we wish him well."
In addition to Gordon, Barcelona is also interested in Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez and Chelsea's Joao Pedro. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich has the option to permanently sign Marcus Rashford, Gordon's teammate, for £26 million following his loan from Manchester United.
